Villagers kill bandit

SUKKUR, June 6: A dacoit was killed and his accomplice was injured in an exchange of fire between dacoits and the villagers in Blooki Wahee village near Mirpur Mathelo on Thursday.

According to reports, dacoits attacked the Baboo Dreho village early in the morning. The villagers awoke and an encounter took place between the dacoits and them. One of the dacoits, Mohammad Punhal Korai, was killed and one of his accomplices was injured. The injured was taken away by the dacoits.

However, the Korai family alleged that Dahar community men had taken away Punhal from his house and later shot him dead. They demanded an inquiry into the incident.

KILLED: A 60-year-old man, Mohammad Sachal Soomro, was gunned down in Ghotki on Thursday.

Police told Dawn that Mohammad Esa Soomro, an assistant of an advocate was allegedly involved in the murder over the pretext of Karo Kari.

Meanwhile, a man, Mohammad Ibrahim, was seriously wounded in an exchange of fire between the two groups of Choohan tribe over a minor dispute.

He was admitted to the Ghotki Civil Hospital.
