KARACHI, May 5: Twenty-one vehicles — eight cars and 13 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, the police said.

Four cars were hijacked and four others stolen in Ferozabad, Garden, City Courts, Defence, and Soldier Bazaar police limits.

Seven motorcycles were hijacked and six others stolen in Rizvia, SITE, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, and New Town police limits.

CRACKER EXPLOSION: An eight-year-old boy was injured in a cracker explosion in Azizabad, and another explosive device was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) in the same locality on Sunday.

The police said that an Afghan boy, Juma Khan, a rag-picker, suffered injuries to his face, hands and chest when he opened a shoe-box-like object at a garbage dump near Lal Qila ground in Azizabad. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was admitted.

The police said that the explosive device was locally made and weighed 200gm.

While searching the area for more explosives, the BDS officials found another similar device. They defused the device and took it with them.

ARRESTED: The investigation wing of the police arrested on Sunday nine suspects who were wanted in arson, kidnapping for ransom and other criminal cases.

SSP Investigation Manzoor Ahmed Mughal said that the investigation wing arrested Naeem Baloch for his involvement in kidnapping for ransom in Kalri.
