FAISALABAD, May 4: An additional district and sessions judge on Friday convicted CIA officials and doctors involved in a torture case.

The Sadar CIA staff had tortured one Yousaf to death in 1990. But a special medical board declared the murder a suicide as a result of which the case registered against police officials was dismissed.

Later, the Punjab health services director-general declared the medico-legal certificate bogus and on the basis of this certificate, Mansha, the brother of deceased filed a petition against the CIA officials and two doctors.

The judge handed down seven years’ rigorous imprisonment each to Sub-Inspector Zakaullah, Head Constable Amir Watto and constables Iftikhar, Zulfiqar and Yousaf, and two years’ imprisonment to Dr Habibullah, former medical superintendent, and deputy medical superintendent Dr Saeed.
