ISLAMABAD, May 2: The Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) and other telecoms organizations working under the control of science ministry will help Afghanistan rebuild its telecommunications infrastructure.
The decision was made during a meeting of the visiting Afghan delegation — which was led by minister for telecommunications Engr Abdul Rahim — with science minister Prof Dr Attaur Rahman, according to a press release issued here on Thursday.
The secretary to the science ministry’s IT and telecoms division, Ashfaq Mahmood, and other senior officers of the ministry were also present on the occasion.
It was also decided at the meeting that the telecommunications links between Islamabad and Kabul would be restored very soon.
The science minister offered advisory and technical input to guide Afghanistan in rebuilding and restructuring its telecoms. The Afghan minister thanked Prof Atta on this gesture.
The representatives of PTCL, Comsats and some other telecoms companies that are affiliated with the science ministry made presentations on their capabilities and identified projects which they could possibly undertake in Afghanistan.
