RAWALPINDI, April 29: The judge, Anti-Terrorism Court No.2, Rawalpindi-Islamabad, Malik Safdar Hussain, awarded death sentence and a fine of Rs100,000 to convict Hanifullah for killing a policeman.

Mohammad Anwar, havaldar, was patrolling on his motorbike on July 7, 2000, when he saw two suspicious men and started chasing them. Soon after, he was fired upon by one of them and killed by Hanifullah. His accomplice Awal Sher was issued a warrant of perpetual arrest by the court.

In another murder case, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Chaudry Sadiq Tabassum pronounced death sentence and a fine of Rs50,000 to Haidar Ali.

According to the FIR, registered by Police Station Murree, the convict had murdered Mohammad Nazir, his neighbour, on March 13, 2001.

The same court awarded one year jail term and a fine of Rs20,000 to Abdul Haleem. He was arrested by New Town Police Station while selling 510gms of Charas.

Karam Din was sentenced to six months jail term and a fine of Rs20,000 by the same court for selling 150gms of Heroin. He was arrested by Pir Wadhai Police Station.— A Reporter
