KGA beat KG to lift trophy

KARACHI, April 28: KGA Gymkhana added another trophy to their vast collection, after they beat Karachi Gymkhana by four wickets in the final of the KCCA Zone III Senior League at Karachi Gymkhana Sunday.

Batting first, Karachi Gymkhana were bowled out for 189 in 34.1 overs with Adnan Riaz top-scoring with 52. Umair Usman weighed in with 30 and Imran Afzal was unbeaten with 23.

Patrick Deniz claimed three for 48 and Andre Bernard two for 35.

Chasing 190 for victory, KGA, who were cruising at 103 for three, were soon struggling at 128 for six, after top-scorer Sham Ramesh was dismissed for 69.

But Jonathan Rodrigues (44 not out) and Irfan Gill (24 not out) weathered the storm and put on an invaluable 63 for the unbroken seventh wicket stand to take KGA to an exciting victory in 32.2 overs.

Leg-spinner Imran Afzal was the pick of the Karachi Gymkhana attack picking up five for 89.

KGA now meet KPI in the Minority Cricket final scheduled for Sunday at KPI Ground.
