PML-N councillor arrested

SAHIWAL, April 27: Noorshah police on Saturday arrested a PML-N councillor allegedly involved in an attempt to murder case of his opponents during the elections.

Rana Aftab Ahmad and his six accomplices Rana Nisar, Abdul Qavi, Sakhi Sarwar, Mukhtar Ahmed, Ashfaq Papoo and Muhammad Anwar had shot at and injured their rivals Muhammad Afzal and Shahid at Chak 78/5-R.

Police had already registered a case against the councillor and his six accomplices.

CAR SNATCHED: Four masked highway robbers on Saturday snatched a car on the Sahiwal-Pakpattan Road near Chak 99/9-L.

Amjad Toor was on his way to Sahiwal from Pakpattan by his car (LXZ-9909) when robbers intercepted him by erecting obstacles on the road. They snatched Rs26,800 in cash and drove away with his car.

Dera Rahim police have registered a case.

REFERENDUM RALLY: A pro-referendum rally led by tehsil Nazim and his Naib was taken out on Saturday from the Baldia Ground.

Nazimeen of union councils, councillors, women councillors and people carrying banners in favour of the referendum marched through various city bazaars.
