MULTAN, April 25: Availability of better facilities and reforms in syllabus in the state-run schools will attract more and more students with time.

This was stated by provincial education minister Saeed Akhtar while talking to councillors here on Thursday.

He said the government had earmarked Rs1.45 billion for education. Of the total amount, Rs150 million had already been handed over to the district government for this purpose, he added.

Computer education had been introduced in the colleges and it would travel to schools by next year, he said.

He believed the current government system was going well.

Mr Akhtar urged the Nazimeen to support referendum to see better future of the country.

INJURED: Two bandits on Thursday injured a prize bond dealer and deprived him of Rs500,000 in cash near Ghanta Ghar.

Reports said Mukhtar Ahmad was carrying the amount with him on his way to shop when the bandits intercepted him, spanked him with butts of the guns on resistance and escaped with money.

The injured was taken to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan, where his condition was stated to be stable.
