KARACHI, April 18: The Town Nazims, women and minority councillors and other representatives of the city government, led by Tariq Hassan, Naib city Nazim, called on governor Sindh Muhammedmian Soomro at the governor’s house on Thursday.
They discussed the city’s problems with the governor and assured their full cooperation in the presidential referendum on April 30.
They expressed support for the steps being taken by the government for strengthening the newly introduced local government system.
Tariq Hassan was confident that the people of Karachi would extend overwhelming support to the President.
Commending their sentiments, governor Soomro observed that the people of Sindh had expressed wholehearted support to the policies of the President, which was evident from their participation in the public meetings being held in connection with the mass contact campaign of the President.
The women and minority councillors also announced full support for the President. The delegation consisted of Farooq Faria, Gudu Bihari, Ahmed Parekh and other town Nazims.
Another delegation of Nazims and councillors, led by Muhammad Siddique Rathore, also met the governor and declared support for the President.—PPI
