DERA ISMAIL KHAN, April 13: Dera police launched the Rescue-15 service for the citizens on Saturday.

District Nazim Latifullah Khan inaugurated the centre. This is the second such centre in the NWFP. The other centre is functioning at Peshawar.  

Police Senior Superintendent Arif Nawaz Khan said the centre was established to provide basic medical service and first aid to the patients or injured, rescue service in case of any fire, earthquake, flood,  fight against crimes, verification of vehicles at the time of any deal, tracing out the stolen vehicles and registration of FIR in case the relevant police station denied it.

He said the centre was equipped with a computer with record of more than 100,000 stolen vehicles, ambulance, motorcycle squad, forensic laboratory and the rescue services would be provided within five to seven minutes after the call on toll free No.15 is received.  

The Nazim announced the donation of a fully equipped ambulance for the service.

Dera Tehsil Nazim Fatehullah Khan Miankhel also announced the provision of two class-IV employees for Rescue-15 out of the Tehsil budget.  

On the first day of its operation, Rescue-15 has traced out two  stolen vehicles, which were sent to the cantonment police station.

ROBBERIES: A gang of three dacoits committed two robberies on River Indus Road and Kachi Paind Khan Road on Friday night.

A senior producer of Radio Pakistan, Fayyaz Baloch, who was coming from the Indus road on his motorbike with his friend Mohammad Hashim, was waylayed by a gang of robbers and deprived of Rs5,900, service and national identity cards and a wristwatch.

At Kachi Paind Khan Road, the motorbike of Mohammad Tariq, lab assistant of Zanana hospital, was stopped by the same robbers, who snatched his wristwatch, cash and other valuables and fled.
