GUJRANWALA, April 10: At least half a dozen policemen and prisoners were injured in a clash in district courts here on Wednesday.
Accused Shahid, Akram, Jamshed, Atif, Shafiq and other prisoners were brought under police escort to attend court. The accused were talking with their relatives when policemen barked at them. Losing their tempers, they attacked policemen with kicks and fists and tore apart their uniforms.
Police have registered a case against the accused.
ADMISSION SCHEDULE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Gujranwala, on Wednesday announced the schedule of the 9th class admission for the 2002-04 academic session.
The last date for the admission has been fixed April 30 without late fee, while May 15 and 31 with late fee of Rs50 and Rs200, respectively.
Board secretary Muhammad Ahtaram Dar said the enrolment fee of Rs275 would be received once. Students could apply for change of their subjects by Sept 16 while the local migration had been banned, he concluded.
SHOT DEAD: A landlord was shot dead on Wednesday by six dacoits on resistance at Bhoman village, Tetley.
Armed dacoits entered the house of Maqbool Ahmad by scaling its boundary wall. They held the inmates hostage and scooped Rs10,000 in cash, ornaments and other valuables. They opened fire on Ahmad for putting up resistance and escaped. He died on the spot.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
