QUETTA, April 6: A powerful bomb explosion rocked Kohlu township of Marri tribal agency late on Saturday night while two land-mines, planted at the main road linking the tribal agency with the rest of the province, near Chamalang area, were defused, official sources said.

Unknown armed men also opened fire on the office of the District Coordination Officer (DCO) and a petrol pump, the sources said.

The explosion in Kohlu created panic among the area people.

“A time device was planted at the rear of a shop in the main Bazaar,” the sources said, adding no loss of life or limb was reported as the bomb went off late in the night.

With the explosion, the shop caught fire which was completely destroyed before the fire brigade reached the scene of blast.

Earlier, on a tip-off, the local administration recovered two land-mines and defused them before they could explode.

The sources said that some unknown armed men exchanged fire with the law enforcement agencies at a petrol pump. However, the assailants escaped later on.
