HUB, April 6: Residents of Hub on Thursday complained that the town has been experiencing frequent and unannounced shutdowns for the last 10 days.

The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation suspended the power at midnight and restored it after two or three hours, they said and added that the practice was repeated during the day for another two or three hours.

They said the shutdowns had become more frequent since the summer begun and the citizens were facing more hardships.

The consumers said that when they tried to contact the complaint centre, mostly they didn’t get any response. They said that when the officials were asked, they said the lines had tripped due to low voltage.

Some of residents alleged that the ice factories were supplied electricity without any break allegedly in return for gratification.

The citizens appealed to the authorities to pay attention to the situation.

TELEPHONE LINK INOPERATIVE: The telephone link of the town and Lasbela Industrial Estate Development Authority remained disconnected from other parts of the country on Friday.

The zero dialling was not functioning since Thursday but despite complaints the Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation authorities did not rectify the fault, residents complained.

They said two days had passed but the problems was yet to be removed. The business community was facing considerable losses due to lack of communication facility.

They have appealed to the higher authorities to order early removal of the problem.
