KARACHI, April 5: A young boy committed suicide after his mother refused him pocket money in Mohammadi Colony on Friday.

Hasan Ahmed, 13, hanged himself with a rope from a ceiling fan after he was denied the money. The boy wanted to go for a picnic with his friends, police said.

The body was taken to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

Deceased’s father was a labourer and his mother also used to work at a shrimp cleaning unit, police said.

BODY FOUND: The body of a minor boy was recovered in a gunny bag in the Baghdadi area.

With the recovery of the body, tension gripped the area and angry protesters lit bonfires and blocked traffic. The police used teargas shell to quell the angry protesters. Qasim, 3, went missing on Thursday, and an FIR was lodged by his father at the Baghdadi police station on Thursday night.

Yunis Baloch, a schoolteacher, identified the body after the police informed the family about the recovery of the body at Shah Beg Lane.
