ABBOTTABAD, March 30: Police arrested a gang that had committed many burglaries in the city during the last one year, and recovered a huge quantity of household goods from its possession.
Those arrested were identified as Jumma Gul, Noor Din and Javed, all Afghan refugees. Police claimed that they had admitted to have committed at least 20 dacoities in Jinnahabad Mandian, Kaghan Colony, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Iqbal Road, Hassan Town, Shahzaman Colony and Bilal Town.
DSP Mumtaz Zareen told newsman that three police parties working under the supervision of the SHOs of the Cantonment and Mirpur and a CIA Inspector, had arrested the culprits after their sketches had been drawn by the police with the help of computers.
The seized goods included nine TVs, nine VCRs, two cameras, two mobile phones, two computers, eight videotapes, 18 wrist watches, one carpet, and gold ornaments. The DSP said that in daytime the culprits used to stroll different localities as carpet sellers. But actually, he added, they used to look for locked houses from where they stole different articles.
