SHEIKHUPURA, March 30: An ASI and a carjacker were killed in two shootouts in the district on Saturday.

Farooqabad police ASI Muzaffar Sardar was shot dead by three highway robbers on Sharaqpur Road near Nazar Lubana on Saturday night.

Police said that five robbers snatched a car (SPK-6666) at gunpoint and sped away. A police party intercepted them on the Muridke-Narowal Road.

“The robbers opened fire. The police returned the fire and killed one of the outlaws besides arresting others,” an official announcement said. The dead was identified as Dawood Khan of Peshawar and the arrested as Zaheer, Yousaf, Younus and Nazir. —Correspondent
