KARACHI, March 29: A week-long tuberculosis camp was organized in Manora by the TB Control Programme of Hamdard University from March 17. Specialists from the hospital faculty provided diagnostic and therapeutic services to a large number of people living in the coastal belt.
The chest and TB clinic of Manora Health Project, which was inaugurated in October 2001, has embarked on ‘TB-free Manora campaign’, under the supervision of chest physicians, Dr A. Hameed and Dr Owais Suriya.
Door-to-door surveys for providing TB awareness and identification of TB cases have shown high prevalence of the disease in the area.
The campaign has now initiated its 2nd phase of providing free treatment under Fixed Dose Combination Therapy and DOTS for all the identified cases. The project is based on community-oriented interventional strategies for fighting tuberculosis.
