PESHAWAR, June 5: Delimitation proposals for the local government elections in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas have been finalized.

This was informed through a presentation given to NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah here on Wednesday.

Forty-seven union councils have been proposed for the Khyber Agency, 46 for Bajaur, 28 for Mohmand Agency, 24 for Orakzai Agency, eight for FR Peshawar and four for FR Kohat. Each union council comprises a population of 10,000 to 15,000, says a statement.

It was informed that during formulation of the proposals, the tribal configuration and boundaries and the geographical contiguity had been kept intact.

Similarly, the Tehsil and sub-Tehsil boundaries have also been carefully considered.

The governor, while approving of the preliminary delimitation proposals, said the proposals would be made public for information of the tribal populace.

The presentation was also attended by Local Government Minister Athar Minallah.
