DADU, March 23: A large number of workers of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) of Sehwan Taluka took out a protest rally against the construction of the greater Thal canal in Sehwan town on Saturday.

After marching on main roads of the town they gathered outside the local press club and staged a demonstration for one hour.

They were carrying banners, placards and raising slogans against the construction of the greater Thal canal.

Speaking to the demonstrators Abdul Salam Rajput said that the Punjab was not providing due share of water to Sindh.

He said that the acute shortage of water had affected the rural economy of the province. He said that the greater Thal canal was the more dangerous than the Kalabagh dam for Sindh.

ARRESTED: Some 13 criminals were arrested in the jurisdiction of Dadu, Thariri Mohabbat, Pat Gul Mohammad, Drigh Bala and Ghallo police stations on Saturday.

The police conducted raid at different places and arrested 11 absconders, 2 dacoits, and recovered one rifle, one shotgun, 10 bullets and 5 cartridges from their possession.
