CAPE TOWN, March 19: South Africa has not been formally approached to host Zimbabwe-Australia matches next month, the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCBSA) said Tuesday.
Australia are due to tour Zimbabwe for two Test and three One-day Internationals, but there are fears over security following the disputed presidential election in the country earlier this month.
The UCB said that contrary to rumour neither the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) nor the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) had made a formal approach.
“Rumours that Willowmore Park and Supersport Park have been earmarked to host Test matches between Zimbabwe and Australia are unfounded,” UCB chief executive Gerald Majola said in a statement Tuesday.—Reuters
