MULTAN, March 19: The killer of two constables of the Multan police station was executed in the New Central Jail here Tuesday morning.

Jail Deputy Superintendent Malik Muhammad Mushtaq and Assistant Superintendent Ali Akbar told APP that Shaukat Hayat of Mauza Bungle Wala, Qadirpur Raan, Multan, shot dead two constables Rab Nawaz and Farman Ali when they tried to arrest him on Oct 8, 1994.

A FIR No 615/94 was registered with the New Multan police station under sections 440, 447, 148 and 149 PPC, he said, adding the double murder case was registered under FIR No 616/94.

A Multan additional district and sessions judge awarded him death sentence.

All his appeals in the superior courts and to the president were dismissed.

Shaukat was given one month’s time for seeking pardon from the families of the slain but in vain.

On Monday, his relatives visited him in the jail for the last time.

The body was handed over to his heirs.—APP
