SAHIWAL, March 19: The local Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has registered a case of accepting illegal gratification against a police ASI here on Tuesday.
Reports said Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Karam Shah of Burjwala police station received Rs18,000 from one Allah Ditta for a favour in a case which he failed to do.
On the complaint, the ACE has registered the case under section 161 PPC and 32/47 PCA.
Meanwhile, the ACE has arrested Pervez Masih, a peon at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Chak 82/6-R, for allegedly misappropriating government funds of Rs4,500.
The principal had reportedly given him the amount to deposit it with a bank.
A case has been registered under section 409, 467/420 and 471 PPC. Police have managed four-day physical remand.

DISCONNECTED: The local Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) authorities on Tuesday disconnected 23 telephones being operated at unlawful public call offices.
The PTCL chairman learnt the shopkeepers kept the franchised sets of private companies authorizing the running of PCOs but all the outgoing calls were made from the PTCL connections.
Earlier, the department had disconnected 37 telephones.
