Dera Ghazi Khan, March 18: The district coordination officer ordered on Monday to demolish the under-construction chamber of an advocate who got the permission for its construction from the district Nazim.

Reports said Advocate Rasool Bakhsh (recently nominated for the Public Safety Commission) got permission from the district Nazim for the construction of his chamber on the premises of former deputy commissioner’s office (now district Nazim’s office).

As a property of the Punjab government, according to the land record, the revenue department can allow any construction within kutchery or on court premises. The deputy commissioner is also authorized to allow any construction on the premises of his office and courts.

District Nazim Alhaj Jamal Khan Leghari has, thus, violated the rule by allowing the advocate to erect the chamber on the provincial government’s land. Consequently, several advocates have followed suit.

According to the EDO (finance), wrong permission of construction by the Nazim had created tension among different groups of lawyers.

He maintained the DCO had ordered to demolish unauthorized chamber as the Nazim was not the competent authority to allow its construction on the government’s soil.

The District Bar Association will meet on Tuesday to take stock of the situation.

NOTICE: The district education department on Monday issued notices to unregistered private schools to get immediate registration.

According to details, there are at least 200 unregistered schools in and around the district. Their standard is not according to the criteria of the education department.

The local education department has fixed March 30 as the last date for the registration.

EXTENDED: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has extended the last date of admission to April 5 for matric, FA, ATTC, PTC, BA, BEd, MA, MEd, MPhil and PhD.

The forms are available at the regional office of the institution.

If any candidate fails to get admission form due to some reason, he/she must deposit the fee in any bank in the name of Treasurer AIOU, Sector H-8-Islamabad after the last date.
