UN crew goes to wrong city

Published March 19, 2002

MONTERREY (Mexico) March 18: A German crew setting up audio systems for a UN conference on development financing went to the wrong city, showing up in Monterey, California, rather than the meeting site more than 1,500 miles away in Monterrey, Mexico.

The crew, which was travelling from Germany, had arrived at the Mexico site and was working quickly to get audio systems running for the Monday opening of the conference.

It was not immediately known how the mix-up occured.—Reuters
