LAHORE, March 13: The antique car rally from Lahore to Rawalpindi started from here on Wednesday morning.

Punjab Minister for Finance Tariq Hameed saw off the participants in the antique cars rally at the Lahore Fort. Punjab tourism and forests secretary Shahid Husain Raja, Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab managing director Raees Abbas Zaidi and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

The TDCP had registered 30 antique cars in four categories — original pre-1955 model, pre-1955 cars with altered engines, 1955 to 1965 and 1965 to 1975 model cars.

Dodge Brothers’s 1926 model car is the oldest car participating in the rally.

According to the plan, the rally is likely to reach Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, via GT Road. The participants will make three 15-minute stop-overs at Gujranwala Cantt, Kharian TDCP resort and Canal Rest House, Jhelum.

The TDCP had informed the rally participants to drive their antique cars within the 40kms per hour speed limit. The cars rally was also accompanied by a double-decker carrying journalists, a mobile workshop, ambulance and traffic police.
