KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) would soon send its special envoy to India to try to defuse the tension between Pakistan and India, Dawn learnt through reliable sources.

The sources said that Oman’s Sultan Qaboos, who currently heads the GCC, would send an envoy to India in the first week of February to try to defuse the situation and avert the possibilities of war between the two countries.

They further said that Sultan Qaboos had taken a serious note of the prevailing situation and voiced concern over the massive deployment of troops by India along the Pakistani borders.
