MINGORA, Jan 25: The government has decided to establish summer campus of Malakand University Chakdara at Sharingal. A high-level team visited the proposed site in this regard recently.

According to a source, the NWFP governor, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, was taking personal interest in the project, which is being initiated to provide quality education to the people of the area.

It was said that Dr Lutfullah, adviser to the governor, Prof Dr Jandar Shah, Vice-Chancellor of the Malakand University, accompanied by other officials visited Sharingal in Upper Dir to select a suitable site for the establishment of summer camp. “The government’s sincerity in setting up of summer campus can be judged from the fact that it wants to start classes from the next summer,” the source said.

The source said the campus would probably be established near the Forest Development Corporation Colony, where the basic infrastructure was also available.

The authorities also held meetings with the elected representatives of the area and took them into confidence in this regard.

The area people have hailed the government’s initiation and termed it a positive step for the development and progress of the area.
