PESHAWAR, Dec 5: The former NWFP chief minister, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, has said that the accord signed by the Afghan delegates after several days of deep negotiations on the future dispensation of Afghanistan in Bonn, Germany, would prove a landmark in returning peace and stability to the war-battered country.

In a statement issued from London, Sherpao said that the agreement by the Afghan delegates after detailed and threadbare negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations would be a positive start for the future of Afghanistan.

He said that the interim setup in the war-ravaged country under the leadership of Hamid Karzai, a former deputy foreign minister, would have to live up to the expectations of all Afghans irrespective of their caste, creed or ethnicity.

The interim setup would have to work earnestly for the gigantic task of reconstruction and rehabilitation of this war- torn country and its masses.

Mr Sherpao hoped that the international peacekeeping force would be deployed forthwith by the United Nations and the international coalition so that complete security could be provided to the new setup in Afghanistan.
