Zimbabwe call up Strang for one-dayers

CHITTAGONG (Bangladesh), Nov 22: Zimbabwe have recalled wrist-spinner Paul Strang to bolster their attack for the one-day series against Bangladesh which starts Friday.

Strang, who has been plagued with injury trouble in recent years, linked up with the Zimbabwe squad at a practice session Thursday to prepare for the three One-day Internationals.

Zimbabwe won the two-Test series 1-0 against their hosts after beating Bangladesh by eight wickets in the second test on Monday.

Zimbabwe captain Stuart Carlisle, who took charge after Brian Murphy returned home with a fractured hand, said on Thursday he was confident his team would also clinch the one-day series against Bangladesh.

But Zimbabwe coach and former Australian Test opener Geoff Marsh downplayed his side’s chances after key pace bowler Heath Streak was hit with flu Wednesday.

“He looks better today, but will have to face a fitness test for tomorrow’s (Friday’s) match,” Marsh said.—Reuters
