SADIQABAD, Nov 19: Absence of subject specialists and basic facilities in the Government Girls Degree College, Liaquatpur, has marred the smooth functioning of the institution.

There are only 300 chairs available in the college, however, the number of students on the rolls is 450.

Liaquatpur lady councillor Ashraf Sultana highlighted the problems in a meeting with union council Nazim Malik Muhammad Iqbal.

Spelling out details in a council meeting in the recent past, the Nazim said the college was facing a vacuum in the absence of lecturers in English, mathematics and chemistry. He said non-availability of drinking water in the college was another problem the students were confronted with.

He urged the authorities to construct a water storage tank in the college. He also demanded that an auditorium should be constructed in the college.

REVENUE OFFICE: There was no facility of telephone revenue office in the city for the rectification of minor faults, though, the number of subscribers has increased to 15,000.

Social worker Raza Rashid Javed and union council D councillor have pleaded the case for setting up the telephone revenue office. They said the city telephone exchange was providing phone facility to 10,000 subscribers while rural exchange comprising Jamal Din Wali, Bahadurpur Chowk, Muhammadpur Lamma, Bhuttey Wahan, Bhong, Rahimabad, Meray Shah, Soon Miani, Sanjarpur, Ahmadpur Lamma, Kot Sabzal, Bindore Abassian, Chak 173/P, Bungalow Manthar, Swetra Chowk, Kotha Thali (Adam Sohaba) Abu Dhabi Colony, Sonny Bridge, Chak 246/P, Kalley Wali, Garhi Khair and Muhammad Jhak were providing the facilities to 5,000 subscribers throughout the tehsil.

They claimed it was cumbersome for the people to get their grievances redressed from the only revenue office in Rahim Yar Khan.

They urged the PTCL high-ups to order establishment of a revenue office in the city for the convenience of the subscribers.
