VEHARI, Nov 2: Scores of students of the Government College for Boys, Vehari, on Thursday staged a protest rally to express resentment over the principal’s indifference towards them.

A group of students wanted to organize a Dars-i-Quran programme in the college ground but the principal did not allow them to do so. The protesters blocked the Vehari-Multan Road by burning tyres.

Later, on the assurance of the district administration, they dispersed.

The administration has set up a committe to inquire into the matter.

RALLY: Hundreds of activists of various religious parties on Friday took to streets to condemn US atrocities in Afghanistan.

They chanted slogans against the US and expressed solidarity with people in Afghanistan.

Gathering at the Pakistan Chowk, religious leaders criticized the government’s policy of supporting the US.

Heavy police contingent was deployed on the spot.

KILLED: A man killed his daughter’s lover and injured the girl over illicit relations in Luddan on Thursday.

Sher Muhammad’s daughter had reportedly developed illicit relations with a co-villager Ahmad Yar.

Desperate to break relationship, he visited Ahmad’s house and took aim on the couple. Ahmad died on the spot while the girl sustained serious injuries.

She was admitted to the DHQ Hospital.
