Published February 2, 2004

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1: Eidul Azha will be celebrated throughout the country on Monday with religious fervour and enthusiasm to pay homage to the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

Special arrangements have been made for Eid prayers at mosques and open places. The biggest congregation of Eidul Azha in the federal capital will be held at the Faisal Mosque. The faithful will also offer prayers at many other mosques and open places in different parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

People will sacrifice animals after the Eid prayers and distribute meat among those who could not afford to sacrifice animals. Special prayers will be offered on the occasion for the solidarity and prosperity of the country and unity of the Muslim Ummah.

The government has announced three holidays for Eidul Azha. Police and other law-enforcement agencies have made elaborate arrangements to ensure peace and security.

Special police squads will be deputed around mosques and Imambarghas at the time of the Eid prayers. Newspapers will bring out special editions to highlight the importance of Eidul Azha and radio and television channels have prepared special programmes to mark the occasion. -APP
