GUJRANWALA, July 9: The senior vice-president of the teachers association was injured allegedly by ruling PML MPA Amanat Virk and accomplices here on Saturday.

Amanat Virk was present in the EDO (education) office when Mohammad Anwar came there. On seeing him, the MPA along with some 11 accomplices gave him a sound thrashing, injuring him seriously.

It is learnt that Amanat Virk had a grudge with Anwar because the latter had pursued the case of a couple whom the MPA had got transferred to different places.

Civil Lines police have registered a case against the MPA and accomplices.

PML youth wing: A delegation of the PML youth wing, led by provincial joint secretary, departed for China on Sunday.

The delegation would exchange views with Chinese youth associations for promotion of bilateral issues and strengthening the friendship, besides meeting Chinese prime minister and members of parliaments.

Youth wing divisional information secretary Syed Hafiz Sabzwari said the chief minister wanted to give proper place to youth wing in the party.

DACOITY BID: A medical store owner foiled a dacoity bid and overpowered the armed man who was handed over to the police here on Sunday.

Reports said medical store owner Zahid Riaz was present at his shop when a masked man entered and whipped out pistol. Zahid overpowered him and snatched his pistol.
