Labour Day observed

ISLAMABAD, May 1: The International Labour Day was observed throughout the country on Sunday to pay tributes to those who laid down their lives in 1886 in Chicago for the rights of workers. Labour organizations across the country took out processions and organized seminars to highlight the problems of workers. Leaders of parties in the ruling alliance and ministers in the four provinces addressed the rallies and renewed commitment to ameliorate the lot of workers.

Print and electronic media published, broadcast and telecast special programmes to mark the day. Different labour organization took out rallies to pay homage to the Chicago labourers. Speakers at these rallies and other gatherings organized in connection with the day, pledged to continue their struggle for the cause of workers and keep playing their role in nation building.
