Truck catches fire

KOHAT, April 30: The Friendship Tunnel on the Indus Highway remained closed for three hours after a trawler caught fire a kilometre away after its entrance in the early hours on Saturday.

The in charge of the tunnel security Air Commodore Nayyer Told Dawn that a trawler number LSB-9837 full with jute caught fire at 4am and it took three hours to extinguish the fire.

The tunnel was re-opened for traffic at 7am. All the 48 tons jute worth millions of rupees turned into ashes.

He said that the truck was still parked on the highway and arrangements were being made to remove its machine.
