HYDERABAD, March 2: Hesco has blamed Wasa for the chaotic conditions created in the wake of recent rains in Hydera-bad, saying the agency has not taken proper precautions against power breakdowns.

A statement, issued by the spokesman for Hesco, said that all over the country, agencies responsible for water supply and sewerage systems were bound to install their own generators and make alternative power arrangements in this regard.

During a meeting held 10 months ago, he said, Hesco had clearly informed the district administration and the managing director of Wasa that the agency should obtain dual power connections from Hesco to meet emergencies arising out of the power breakdowns due to pollution, rains and storms.

He said that at that time it had also been suggested that Wasa should install its own generators to prevent power outages at its pumping stations and avoid disruption of water supply in the event of power breakdowns.

Even after 10 months, he said, Wasa had made no arrangements in this regard and had not even applied for a second power connection.
