LARKANA, Nov 4: Protesting over the unscheduled loadshedding in Shahdadkot and around, some 20 workers of Shahri Itehad on Sunday staged a hunger strike under he leadership of Farooque Soomro. The protesters alleged that WAPDA’s unannounced loadshedding had multiplied the miseries of the people adding that power tripping for four to eight hours had affected the rice industry and water supply system to the town.

PROTEST: A group of around 50 activists of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) observed a token hunger strike outside Jinnahbagh on Sunday for the early release of Bashir Khan Qureshi and Dr Niaz Kalani, the central leaders of JSQM. Bashir Junejo, Gada Hussain Kango, Momin Samo and others led the protest. They flayed the government’s decision of arresting JSQM workers who had been criticizing the influx and settlement of Afghan refugees in Sindh.

INTERVENER: Two co-accused in the murder case of Sardar Wahid Bakhsh Bhutto have filed an intervention application in Sindh High Court circuit bench, Larkana, in a constitutional petition already filed by Mumtaz Bhutto for constituting inquiry commission headed by High Court judge to inquire the matter into the murder of Sardar Wahid Bakhsh Bhutto’s case.

The co-accused Muhammed Paryal Bhutto and Akbar Lubano moved the court through their advocate Hakim Ali Abbasi alleging that they had been challaned in a false murder case of Sardar Wahid Bakhsh Bhutto with ulterior motive and enmity with the complainant as they had flatly refused him (complainant) to implicate Mumtaz Bhutto in the murder case.

COMMITTEE: A four-member committee headed by professor S.M. Yusuf, principal cadet college Larkana, would finalize the plan to celebrate Larkana centenary programme in a befitting manner. It was decided here in a meeting on Sunday chaired by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Larkana Muhammed Hashim Leghari.

It was decided that mini-seminars, sports, essay contests would be held on taluka level.

A chronicle, souvenirs reflecting the outstanding contributions and works rendered by the Larkanians would be published along with extending centenary and excellence awards in different fields.

All the District Executive Officers were asked to prepare the outlines of their respective departments with briefs showing that how they had come of the age.
