HYDERABAD, Nov 4: Sindh Minister for finance, planning and development, Dr Abdul Hafiz Shaikh has said that Petaro Cadet Collage (PCC) was a great institution of the country and Pakistan and Sindh were proud of it.
He was speaking as chief guest at the 40th parents day in the college on Sunday.
He said discipline, merit and principles were the noteworthy distinctions of this institution.
He said that the cadet college was not only famous for its high standard of education but also for its moral values.
He said that poor students should also be provided an opportunity to study in this institution.
In his address of welcome, principal of the college Commodore Mohammad Abid Saleem highlighted the activities and achievements of the college.
He said that out of nine positions of Hyderabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education examinations, the PCC had claimed seven positions and added that the college had been declared the best institution of the province for the year 2000- 2001 for producing excellent results in SSC and HSC examinations.
He also threw light on the sports and cultural activities of the college.
He said the aid of Rs.5 million provided by the Sindh government during the last financial year was inadequate even to meet the minimum requirements of this institution.
The chief guest gave away the prizes to cadets.
MUET: Pre-entry test for admission to first year engineering in Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro was conducted at Hyderabad Public School by IBA Karachi team here on Sunday amid tight security arrangements and in pin drop silence.
Vice chancellor of the university Dr Abdur Rehman Memon with the members of the vigilance committee and IBA coordinator Mr Abdul Hameed Khan inspected every room of the test centre.
Strict security arrangements were made in the public school and police personnel including women police were posted in the verandas of the class rooms.
IBA coordinator told Dawn that the result of the pre-entry test would be announced on Tuesday.
