KARACHI, Nov 4: Nineteen vehicles — seven cars and 12 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city in the past 48 hours, the police said.

The cars were hijacked/stolen in Darakhshan, Preedy, Gulshan-i-Iqbal (3), Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Ferozabad, and Azizabad.

The motorcycles were hijacked/stolen in Risala, Ferozabad, Mithadar, New Town, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, New Town, Clifton, Baloch Colony, Tipu Sultan, Saeedabad, Korangi, and Soldier Bazaar.

The police also claimed to have recovered 13 vehicles in the past 48 hours in the city.

DIES: A refrigeration technician died when a compression cylinder exploded in Malir on Sunday.

The police said that Wazir Ali, aged 23, was repairing a refrigerator at a shop in Haji Dilbod Goth in Malir when the compression cylinder exploded seriously wounding him and his co-worker Liaquat.

Both the injured were rushed to the JPMC where Wazir died. Liaquat was treated for minor injuries, doctors said.

INJURED: A pedestrian was injured in a road accident in Garden area on Sunday. The police said that Shamon Masih, aged 35, was injured when he was hit by a passenger coach of route seven star near the KMC dispensary on Nishtar Road in Garden.

Sources at Civil Hospital said that the injured man was brought to the emergency ward by the driver of the coach.
