KARACHI, Nov 4: The Inspector-General of Sindh Police, Syed Kamal Shah, has issued a standing order containing Standard Operating Procedure in relation to post-bomb explosion measures.

In the order, the IG pointed out that since no Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) regarding post-explosion measures existed, it was therefore imperative to chalk out an SOP in the prevailing situation for guidance and action by all concerned.

As per the SOP besides action by police control, the health department will take the following actions:

- The medical superintendent will send ambulances and emergency will be declared at Civil Hospital, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi and civil hospitals in other districts to treat the injured.

- Hospitals will make necessary arrangements for a sufficient quantity of blood;

- Establish a control room to entertain inquiries from relatives of victims;

- Emergency section of Civil Hospital, JPMC, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi and civil hospitals in other districts will be activated for prompt medical aid;

- Edhi emergency will be informed immediately.

As per the SOP the traffic police will make prompt arrangements to divert traffic from the scene of occurrence.

The investigation team will reach the spot immediately, inspect the site of blast and conduct investigation. The bomb disposal squad will also be sent immediately.—APP
