HYDERABAD, March 5: The Sindh government has not released Rs5 million grant to the Hyderabad Development Authority which was announced by Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on local bodies , Katchi Abadis and spatial development during his visit to the city on Oct 14 last year.

The adviser announced the amount of Rs5 million after visiting Makki Shah Road, Bagh-i-Mustafa ground road, Tulsi Das drain, Gulistan-i-Sajjad for rain relief to be utilized by the HDA for repair of transformers and generators so that stagnant water could be drained out.

The amount has not yet been released to the HDA despite a lapse of five months as it was stuck up in procedural formalities.

The HDA sent all relevant papers to the additional chief secretary (local government) who forwarded the same to finance department and subsequently a summary was floated by provincial finance department to the Sindh chief minister for approval and since then it was pending there. Meanwhile, the utilization of Rs70 million out of Rs120 million released by the finance department under directives of the Sindh governor after city was hit by water contamination crisis in last May has began.

The Water and Sanitation Agency and the HDA would utilize the amount for desilting of water lagoons and clarifiers of 30 MGD filter plant and installation of chlorinator. Wasa was desilting only one southern lagoon and another lagoon would be prepared with earth obtained out of desilting.

LUMHS RESULTS: The controller of examinations of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences on Saturday announced results of MD (paediatrics), MD (general medicine), MS (orthopaedics) and MS (general surgery) examinations held in October 2004.
