KARACHI, Feb 12: Another man fell prey to the on-going gang-war in Lyari here on Saturday. More than 100 people have been killed in the infight between two criminal gangs during the last one year.
Police said that Mohammad Sarwar and Ameen Rajab, both in their late 20s, were kidnapped from Niazi Chowk in Nayabad by unidentified gunmen. The kidnapper took them to street No.4 in the vicinity and pumped bullets in their bodies. Both the victims received multiple bullets and were rushed to a hospital. Ameen was pronounced dead on arrival, while condition of Sarwar was stated to be serious.
Trouble ensued in Lyari is being attributed to fighting between Arshad Pappu and Rehman Dakait gangs for control of Lyari to advance their drug peddling business.
Police had launched a crackdown on the criminal gangs but failed to arrest any of the key elements of both the groups.
Area people said that the police and area residents know about the whereabouts of Arshad Pappu and Rehman Dakait, but the police were allegedly reluctant to arrest them.
KILLED: A man was stabbed to death in his Al-Falah home on Saturday and the police registered a murder case against five of the victim's friends.
Police said that a junk-dealer Mohammad Khadim Hussain in his early 30s invitied his friends at his home in Azeempura. They were sitting on the upper floor and the family of Khadim was on the ground floor.
Khadim's wife heard noise and went up where she found her husband in a pool of blood. She called her neighbours for help and took her husband to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Victim's brother-in-law Naveed got a murder case registered against Nasir, Mohammad Ali Shah, Naveed, Jawed and Ali Hasan. Having registered the case, the police started search for the suspects.
