GUJRANWALA, Feb 9: The local Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 rejected the bail application of Sialkot jail's former assistant superintendent Akhter Iqbal here on Wednesday.
The counsel for former Gujrat DPO Raja Munawer Hassan pleaded before court that his client was innocent and should be acquitted. However, the judge accepted his plea for hearing and adjourned the case till Feb 13.
Former Gujranwala DIG Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal, former Sialkot DPO Amjad Javed Saleemi, ex-Gujrat DPO Raja Munawer Hassan, ex-MS of Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital Dr Firdaus and surgeon Dr Sajjad Ahmad, former Sialkot jail superintendent, assistant superintendents, Elite force officials and former SHO Zulfikar Ali Virk were present before court. However, complainant Shehar Yar Bukhari's father Ghulam Abbas Bukhari was not present on the occasion.
Four killed: As many as four people, including a woman, were murdered by their rivals in different incidents in an around the city here on Wednesday. Reports said Niamat of Sadhoki was at home when Shahid, Amir and their two unidentified accomplices called him out. They kidnapped him and later shot him dead over a monetary dispute near the Kamoki vegetable market. Muhammad Sarwer, a butcher, was sitting at his shop in Tamboli village, Kamoki when his nephew Attique attacked him with a knife over a money dispute. He died on the spot.
Meanwhile, Sajid shot dead his relative Arif over a financial issue in Lohianwala locality near Rawalpindi by-pass intersection. The wife of an intelligence agency's official, 'R', was found slaughtered in her house in Dhulley, Model Town. The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained.
