GUJRANWALA, Feb 9: Hundreds of aspirants for some vacancies in the irrigation department, who reached the city for an interview from far-flung areas on Wednesday, were disappointed to learn that the recruitment plan had been postponed.

According to reports, the irrigation department had sought the applications from candidates for recruitment against posts of low-grades and invited them for an interview at the department's office. Reaching the venue, they were informed that the authorities concerned had postponed the recruitment and displayed an announcement at its notice board.

Shocked by the decision, the candidates lodged verbal protest against the irrigation authorities and returned homes with heavy heart. They demanded that the high government officials should initiate an inquiry against the department.
