KARACHI, Feb 8: An Anti-Terrorism Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of trial against 11 activists of Jundullah, who are facing charges of allegedly attacking the motorcade of Corps Commander Karachi in June this year.
ATC Judge Feroz Mehmood Bhatti, who is conducting the trial in central jail Karachi, fixed Feb 15 for the next hearing in the absence of defence counsel.
Attaur Rehman, Shahzad Ahmed Bajwa, Yaqoob Saeed, Uzair Ahmed, Shoib Siddiqui, Danish Inam, Najeebullah, Khurrum Saifullah, Shahzad Mukhtar and Khalid Rao are charged with attacking the motorcade of the then Corps Commander of Karachi, Lt-Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat, on June 10 in Clifton, in which 10 people, including six army personnel and three policemen, were killed and 10 others were injured.
WARRANTS: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday issued non-bailable warrants to an investigation officer for non-appearance and failure to produce a witness in a pump blast case.
ATC Judge Aley Maqbool Rizvi was conducting the trial against Kamran alias Atif, an activist of the banned Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Alami who is charged with causing a bomb explosion at the Shell petrol pump in Azizabad on May 15, 2003.
Syed Ejaz Hussain Shah was directed to produce the eyewitness of the case, Dawood, before the court, but despite several orders, he failed to do so. When the matter was taken up on Tuesday, the IO did not appear before the court.
The court took strong notice of it. Issuing NBWs against the IO, the court fixed the matter for Feb 11. - PPI
