KARACHI, Feb 6: The Northern Areas Shia Action Committee, Karachi chapter, has demanded President Musharraf to order implementation of the accord reached between late Allama Ziauddin Rizvi and the chief secretary of the Northern Areas regarding the changes in curricula in June 2004.

The demand was made in a memorandum delivered at the Governor's House by a delegation of the NASA committee on Sunday for restoration complete peace and tranquillity in the area. They further demanded that the officials pointed out by late Ziauddin Rizvi for patronizing sectarianism and vitiating the peaceful atmosphere shout be removed from their offices and included in the investigation of his murder.

In the memorandum, which was signed by Allama Hasan Turabi, Allama Mirza Yusuf Hussain, Maulana Jafar, Allama Latif, Allama Muhammad Jafri, Allama Ghulam Ali and Syed Kausar Hussain Zaidi, they also demanded reasonable compensation to the heirs of the victims.

Other demands in the memorandum included removal of non-local officers from Northern Areas; inquiry against the officials, who were indulging in sectarianism to foil the policies of President Musharraf; and immediate release of those innocent who were arrested during disturbances.

The committee also demanded that the Frontier Constabulary should be replaced by local force so that they could check strictly contraband narcotics smuggling in the area.
