GUJRANWALA, Feb 6: Six women suffered burns, two of them seriously, as fireworks exploded at a house in Abdaal village on the Sialkot Road here on Sunday.

Reports said that the marriage ceremony of Muhammad Bilal, son of Haji Muhammad Siddique was going on while women and girls were sitting in the compound of the house. Suddenly fireworks placed at a corner went off as a result Nasreen (19), Jeveria (18), Tahira (17), Shehnaz (22), Sughran Bibi (40) and Nasiran Bibi (40) suffered burns.

They were rushed to the local DHQ hospital. Police are investigating into the matter.

INJURED: Two constables were shot at and injured by as many motorcyclists near Baghbanpura here on Sunday. Reports said Abdul Waheed and Tajammal Hussain were patrolling on the Naushera Road. They signalled two motorcyclists to stop, but they opened fire on them and fled.

The injured constables were rushed to the local civil hospital in a critical condition. Baghbanpura police have registered a case.
