BAHAWALPUR, Feb 5: Social and political circles have protested against the government's decision to raise the gas price by over eight per cent.

The general public, while resenting the decision, said within a span of four days this was another blow to the salaried class and people belonging to low-income group after increase in the petroleum prices.

The consumers said increase in the rates of gas and petroleum products pointed to the government's inept policies.

People are apprehending more burden on their pockets, as Wapda is about to revise its tariff soon.

They have demanded that the government should take a realistic view of burden on the low-income groups due to abrupt hike in prices of utilities.

PML CAMPAIGN: The PML enrolment campaign has been launched in the district.

PML District President Syed Irfan Gardezi inaugurated the programme the other day by filling in the membership form at the party's local secretariat.

MPA Mohtarma Sitara Fayyaz and other office-bearers also filled in the membership forms, a press release said.

Mr Gardezi said maximum memberships would be ensured in the district. He pledged to solve the problems of the workers.

CM: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi is schedule to preside over the Founders Day function of the Sadiq Public school and address a public meeting at Hasilpur on Feb 10.
