LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Jan 29: Electricity supply in most parts of Landi Kotal remained suspended on Saturday for third consecutive day as most of the power wires and poles were damaged by snowfall on Thursday.

Grid officials in Landi Kotal told Dawn that linemen were busy in repairing faulty lines and were so far able to restore power supply to two feeders out of eight.

Heavy snowfall in Landi Kotal and surrounding areas on Thursday disrupted the power supply as many electricity poles fell down, damaging the main supply lines at various points, said Inayatullah, a Wapda official.

He said they had dispatched various teams of linemen and technicians to repair faulty lines and to restore power supply to six remaining feeders. The power suspension and chilly weather has badly affected routine life in the area

VEHICLE SEIZED: The Bara administration on Friday seized a car after a brief encounter with a group of car thieves in Shinko-Qambarkhel area. The authorities also arrested three car thieves.

The car was snatched at gunpoint from its owner in Gujranwala 24 hours before its recovery.

Meanwhile, an outlaw Nazar Khan surrendered to the Bara authorities on Friday. He was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of Tariq Khan, an armyman of the army engineering wing in March last year.

The authorities had earlier arrested Nazar Khan's father, uncle and two of his co-tribesmen under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation. They were released after the surrender of Nazar Khan.
