KARACHI, Dec 18: Three unidentified men shot dead a building contractor at the latter's house in Shah Faisal Colony on Saturday.

The family of the victim, identified as Abdul Majeed, 56, told the police that some three people rang the doorbell. As Abdul Majeed, resident of Bismillah Town, opened the door, the strangers shot him in the chest and fled. The body was sent to hospital for autopsy.

The victim was a private contractor and father of three daughters. His brother, Mohammad Rafiq, got an FIR registered. Police believed the murder could be an outcome of personal enmity. However, the police are investigating other aspects also. No arrest has, so far, been made in the case.

BODY FOUND: The body of a young man was found in a taxi on Saturday in Rifah-i-Aam Society.

The Madadgar 15 received a phone call from a resident who stated that a taxi had been parked by someone near his house in a suspicious manner. The taxi (JL-2572) did not belong to anyone in the neighbourhood, he added. The police reached the spot and on a search, they found the nude body of a man lying in the boot.

Police shifted the body to JPMC for autopsy and impounded the taxi.

DIES: A case was registered against two policemen for picking up two labourers and subjecting them to torture, during which one of the suspects died.

Rustam and Hakim Ali, 40, were picked up on Friday night and let-off on Saturday morning. However, Hakim Ali died after he reached his home in Zohrani Goth in Bin Qasim police limits.

Rustam told the police that some men in a white Suzuki pickup, all in civvies, intercepted him and Hakim. They asked as to where they were going. The unidentified men beat Rustam and Hakim severely and took them to a derilect place where eight people were already present. Rustam said they were forced to load scrap in a vehicle. All the night, they loaded the vehicle with scrap. In the morning, they were dropped near Ghaghar Phattak.

Later, he said Hakim Ali complained of pain in his stomach and died. A senior police officer said the matter had been politicized and the police were being blamed for the incident.

An identification parade was carried out for SHO of Bin Qasim who was also in question. However, Rustam failed to recognize him. On the insistence of Rustam, the police registered a case against constables Khalid and Manzoor of Bin Qasim PS.
